Solomon
8:6-7
King James Version
Set me as a
seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm; for love is strong as death;
jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath
a most vehement flame!
Many waters
cannot quench love – nor will rivers overflow it; if a man offered for love all
the wealth of his house, he would be utterly despised.
Good News Translation
Close your
heart to every love, but mine; hold no one in your arms but me: Love is as powerful as death; passion is as
strong as death itself. It bursts into flame and burs like a raging fire.
Water cannot
put it out. No flood can drown it. But if any tried to buy love with their
wealth, contempt is all they would get
Sermon Transcript
And now
the name of our loving, life giving God-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – Amen.
From the Song of Solomon, the Bible: Set me as a seal upon
your heart, as a seal upon your arm. Love is as strong as death; passion
pierces the grave. Its flashes are flashes of fire – of raging flames. Many waters cannot quench love. Neither can floods drown it out.
The late Dr. Martin Luther King once said and I quote:
“We
must discover the power of love. The
redemptive power of love. And when we do that, we will make of this old world a
new world. For love – love is the only
way.”
There’s power in love. Don’t
underestimate it. Don’t even over sentimentalize
it There’s power – power in love. If you don’t believe me, think about a time
when you first fell in love. The whole
world seemed to center around you and your beloved. There’s power – power in love. Not just in its romantic forms, but any form –
any shape of love. There’s a certain
sense in which when you are loved and you know it, when someone cares for you
and you know it. When you love and you
show it. It actually feels right. There’s
something right about it. And there’s a
reason for it. The reason has to do with the source. We were made by a power of
love. And our lives are meant to be lived in that love – that’s why we are
here. Ultimately the source of love is
God himself – the source of all of our lives. There’s a medieval poem that
says:
Where
true love is found, God himself is there
The New
Testament says it this way:
Beloved,
let us love one another because love is of God and those who love are born of
God that know God. Those who do not love
do not know God.
Why?
For God is love. There’s power in
love! There’s power in
Love
– to help and heal when nothing else can.
There’s power in love to lift up and liberate when nothing else
will! There’s power in love to show us
the way to live.
Set me as a seal on your heart; a seal
on your arm. For love is as strong as
death
But love is not only about a young
couple. Now the power of love is
demonstrated by the fact that we are all here.
Two young people fell in love and we all showed up. But it’s not just for and about a young
couple who we rejoice with. It’s more than that. Jesus of Nazareth on more than one occasion
was asked by a lawyer some of the essence of the teachings of Moses. And he went back – he reached back in Hebrews
Scriptures to Deuteronomy and Leviticus and Jesus said,
“You
shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind,
and all your strength.”
This
is the first and great commandment. And
the second is like it – love your neighbor as yourself. And then in Matthew’s version he added these
two: 1) Love of God, 2) Love of Neighbor
– hang all the law, hang all the prophets, everything that Moses wrote –
everything in the Hole prophet – everything in the scriptures – everything that
God has been trying to tell the world – Love God! Love your neighbors! And while you’re at it, love yourself. No, someone once said that when Jesus began,
the most revolutionary movement in all of human history – movement grounded in
the unconditional love of God for the world. And a movement mandating people to
live that love. And in so doing to
change not only their lives, but the very life of the world itself. I’m talking about power. Real power.
Power to change the world. If you
don’t believe me – well, there are some old slaves in America’s antebellum
South, who explained the dynamic power of love and why it has the power to
transform. They explained it this
way: They sang a spiritual even in the
midst of their captivity. It’s one that says There is a Palm In Gillied – a healing
palm – something that can make things right.
There is a palm in Gillead to make the wounded whole. There is a palm in
Gilliad to heal the senseless soul and one of them explains why:
You cannot preach like Peter
And you can’t outpray Paul
You just tell the love of Jesus
How he died to save us all
Oh
that’s the palm in Gillead! This way of love is the way. They got it! He died to save us all. He died for anything he could get out of it.
[he must have said or meant ‘he did not die to get anything out of it’] Jesus
did not get an honorary doctorate for dying!
He wasn’t getting anything out of it.
He gave up his life – he sacrificed his life for the good of others –
the good of the other – the well being of the world. For all of us. That’s what love is. Love is not selfish and self-centered. Love can be sacrificial and in so doing, becomes
redemptive. And that way of unselfish
sacrificial redemptive love changes lives and it can change this world. If you don’t believe me, just stop and think
for imagine – think and imagine. Think
and imagine a world where love is the way. Imagine our homes and families when love is
the way. Imagine neighborhoods and
communities where love is the way.
Imagine governments and nations where love is the way. Imagine business and commerce when love is
the way. Imagine this tired old world when
love is the way. When love is the way –
unselfish sacrificial – redemptive! When
love is the way! Then hyour child will never go to bed hungry in this world
ever again! When love is the way! We
will let justice roll down like a mighty stream and righteousness like an
ever-flowing brook, when love is the way. Poverty will become history. When
love is the way, the earth will be a sanctuary, when love is the
way. We will lay down our swords and shields
down by the riverside to study war no more.
When love is the way, there’s plenty good room – plenty good room for
all of God’s children – and when love is the way, we actually treat each other
like we’re actually family, when love is the way. We know that God is the
sourse of us all and we are brothers and sisters – children of God.
My brothers and sisters – that’s a New
Heaven – a New Earth – a New World. A
new human family. And let me tell you
something, Old Solomon was right in the Old Testament – that’s fire!
We gotta sit down. We gotta get you all married.

French Jesuit Pierre Teilhard de
Chardin SJ (I believe this is what he was trying to pronounce but it was
inaudible – probably he was prompted to say this by someone attending, like
George Clooney, since he is Catholic and the camera focused on him and his wife
several times) was arguably one of the great minds – great spirits of the 20th
Century. A Jesuit Roman Catholic Priest – scientist, a scholar, a mystic. In
some of his writings, he said from his scientific background as well as his
theological one – some of his writings he’s said as others have – that the
discovery or invention on harnessing the fire was one of the great scientific
and technological discoveries in all of human history. {Pierre Chardin was a
French idealist philosopher and Jesuit priest who trained as a paleontologist
and geologist and took part in the discovery of the Peking Man, fyi] Fire to a great extend made human
civilization possible. Fire made
possible to cook food and to provide sanitary ways of eating, which reduced the
spread of disease in its time. Fire made
it possible to heat warm environments and thereby made human migration around
the world a possibility even into colder climates. Fire made it possible. There was no Bronze
Age without fire. No Iron Age without
fire. The advances of science and
technology are greatly dependant on the human ability and capacity to take fire
and and use it for human good. Anybody get here in a car today? An automobile? [I am perplexed why he had not
mentioned that Queen Elizabeth could take a car apart and put it back together
again, since this sermon was to tribute a Royal Family Wedding] Nod your heads
if you did. I know there were some
carriages. But those of us who came in
cars, fire the controlled, harnessed fire – made that possible. I know that the Bible says that Jesus walked
on the water, but I have to tell you I didn’t walk across the Atlantic Ocean to
get here. Controlled fire in that plane got me here. Fire makes it possible for us to text and
tweet things and email, Instagram, and facebook and be dysfunctional with each
other. Fire makes all of that possible
and de Chardin said fire was one of the greatest discoveries in all of human
history. And he then went on to say that if humanity ever harnessed the energy of fire again – if humanity ever captured the
energy of love, it will be the second time in history that we have discovered
fire.
Dr. King was right. We must discover love – the redemptive power
of love. And when we do that, we will make of this old world a new world, my
brother, my sister. God love you. God bless
you. And may God hold us all in the those Almighty hands of love.

Tomorrow
Love can be good or evil, depending on the Wolf.
Feed the Good Wolf always and all ways
the jealousy which abounds is found
You will feel the calm; not storm
You will feel the warm comfort
Not the hurt by lovers
Love is what fills the cracks; love attacks
what is wrong like controlled fire, its flame
takes claim to deceit, its Kindle
Love is not the pollution – nor will it tolerate
Pollution – love omits confusion
through checks and balances and obligation
Our mythical facinations omitted by real Love.
They didn’t win – when our lives battle the
Trickery – like a hickory tree ignited with lava
Controlled love gently helps in moulding
Satanic Cults, Deceitful Cultures,
Secret Societies, and lies love Lucifer
Because they are not controlled – they
Fission, they fester, they shake and make a Maze
Love is simple, not a maze, it is fueled
by God’s Word, which we have heard
growing up and living up to morals
Yes, we Stand. We Stand for each other
When we see their need and feed it
as a Good Wolf, and starve the bad one.
It’s no fun to hate, to deceive. It’s not
genuine!
It’s not a diamond but a Fake
And will keep taking if the Bad Wolf is fed
Love builds when it’s controlled
with God’s help. Yet the World is in ruins if
the Bad Wolf is fed
Our Federation was founded by fathers who
Loved morals – not tricks
Yet the bad wolves have been growing
These Bad Wolves didn’t win!
If we can determine and call for God's Wrath,
We then can take a new Course, have a new
Course.
Justice is what elects the right path –
It’s pathetic when we close our eyes to this
and allow the lovers of Corruption to grow!
and we wonder what caused the Volcano
They didn’t win because “We See” inspite of
Deceit.
We complete the earthquake Equasion of Ruination
by solutions – expose confusion – and
Real Eyes – realize we can’t engulf (or wolf-down)
- sumination
Our emancipation needs moral love from above
For the Luciferians destroy people like toys
They didn’t win, because we are standing
and taking Command of our ships!
The evil storms shipped by evil geo-engineers
Have not used their eyes to see or ears to hear
Justice detaches from this evil and is applied
like a Blanket
of fairness, impartiality, detachment,
fair-mindedness
And once this mess faces Justice
The Controlled lava of Love which erupts
will feed not the Wolf that corrupts
but the one which gives heed, loves what is
Good.
They didn’t win and never can!
Their love for studying war
Will collapse on their laps!
Time may lapse and they will keep trying
To terrorize, yet our eyes are on the prize!
As we take the Stand and let them implode on
themselves!
As our heels take the Bold Stand
And our hands reach out as God’s Hands
Are our moral commands – our fire
Which makes us tirelessly tarry
For that which helps Mankind,
Love controlled this way calms
The Evil Wind that tries to attain
By taking instead of making

Sermon
Prince
William and Kate Middleton’s Wedding
Be who
God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire. So said St. Catherine of Sienna, whose
Festival Day is today. Marriage is
intended to be a way in which man and woman help each other to become what God
meant each one to be. Their deepest and
their truest selves. Many people are fearful of the prospects for our
world. But the message of the
celebrations of the world in this country and far beyond its shores is a right
one. This is a joyful day. It is good
that people in every continent are able to share in these celebrations because
this is as every wedding day should be – a day of hope. In a sense, every
wedding is a royal wedding. The bride
and the groom as King and Queen of creation.
Making a new life together, so that life can flow through them into the
future.
William and Catherine, you have chosen to be married in the
sight of a generous God, who so loved the world, that he gave himself to us in
the person of Jesus Christ.
And in the spirit of this
generous God, husband and wife are to give themselves to each other.
Spiritual
life grows. As love finds its
scent beyond ourselves, faithful and committed relationships offer a door in
the mystery of this spiritual life in which we discover this. The more we give of self, the richer we
become in soul. The more we go beyond
ourselves in love, the more we become our true selves and our spiritual beauty
is more fully revealed.
In marriage, we are seeking to
bring one another into another - full of life.
It is, of course, very hard to wean ourselves away from
self-centeredness and people would dream of doing such a thing but a hope
should be fulfilled. It is necessary
that a solemn decision is made. Whatever
the difficulties, we are committed to the way of generous love.
You have both made your
decision today; I will. And by making
this new relationship, you’ve aligned youselves in what we believe is the way
in which life is spiritually evolving and which will lead to the creative
future for the human race. We stand
looking forward to a century which is full of promise and full of peril.
Human Beings are confronting
the question of how to use wisely the power that has been given to us through
the discoveries of the last century. We
shall not be converted to the promise of a future by more knowledge, but rather
by an increase of love and wisdom and reverence for life, for the earth, and
for one another.
Marriage should transform as
husband and wife – make one another their work of art.
It is possible to transform so
long as we don’t harbor ambitions to reform our partners. There must be no
coercion if the spirit is the flow. Each
must give the other space and freedom.
Cholsa, the London poet, sums it up in a pithy phrase:
When
Mastery cometh
God of Love and on
Beateth
his wings
Farewell he is gone
As the reality of God faded in
so many lives in the West, there’s been a corresponding inflation of
expectations that personal relations alone will find meaning and happiness in
life. This is to load our partner with
too great a burden. We’re all
incomplete. We all need the love which
is secure, rather than oppressive. We
need mutual forgiveness in order to thrive.
But as we move towards our partner in love following the example of
Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit is quickened within us. And can increasingly fill
our lives with light. This leads on to a
family life – which offers the best conditions in which the next generation can
receive and exchange those gifts which can can overcome fear and division and
incubate the coming world of the spirit whose fruits are love and joy and
peace. I pray that all of us present and
the many millions watching this ceremony and sharing them, in your joyous day will do everything in our
power to support and uphold you in your new life. And I pray that God will bless you in the way
of life that you have chosen. That way
which is expressed in the prayer which you have composed together in
preparation for this day.
Prayer:
God our Father, we thank you for our families – for the love that
we share and for the joy of our marriage.
In the business of each day, keep our eyes fixed on what is real and
important in life and help us to be generous with our time and love and
energy. Strengthen by our union. Help us
to serve and comfort those who suffer. We ask this in the spirit of Jesus
Christ. And we all say – AMEN!
FOR QUEEN AND COUNTRY
What are the words to God Save The Queen
and who wrote the lyrics to the national anthem?
The British national anthem is known around the world. But
what is the story behind it?
GOD Save the Queen is possibly the most famous national anthem
in the world - and actually can be linked back to as far as 1619, and possibly
further.
But what are
the lyrics, how many verses are there and who wrote it? Here's everything you
need to know...
God Save the
Queen, or God Save the King depending on the gender of the sitting monarch, is
the national anthem of the United Kingdom.
Since its
creation, different verses have been added and taken away, but, on most
occasions, only one verse is sung however at certain times two or very rarely
three are sung.
There are no
definitive lyrics but the verses below are widely accepted as the
"standard" version of the national anthem.
God save our
gracious Queen!
Long live our noble Queen!
God save the Queen!
Send her victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us:
God save the Queen!
Long live our noble Queen!
God save the Queen!
Send her victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us:
God save the Queen!
O Lord our God
arise,
Scatter her enemies,
And make them fall:
Confound their politics,
Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On Thee our hopes we fix:
God save us all.
Scatter her enemies,
And make them fall:
Confound their politics,
Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On Thee our hopes we fix:
God save us all.
Thy choicest
gifts in store,
On her be pleased to pour;
Long may she reign:
May she defend our laws,
And ever give us cause,
To sing with heart and voice,
God save the Queen!
On her be pleased to pour;
Long may she reign:
May she defend our laws,
And ever give us cause,
To sing with heart and voice,
God save the Queen!
Who
wrote God Save the Queen?
There is no confirmed author of the
tune and it is possible the anthem was adapted from chants used in Catholic
churches.
The author most often linked to God
Save the Queen is John Bull - an English composer, musician and organ
constructor who lived in the 16th and 17th centuries.
Bull composed many pieces of music in
his life and it has been widely publicised that, if he did write God Save the
Queen, he did so around 1619.
It was first publicly performed in
London in 1745 and the tune has been used in many compositions over the years -
including by famed musicians such as Beethoven, Haydn and Brahms.
What other countries sing God Save the Queen?
As a result of the wide-reach of the
British Empire and in some cases is still used as a national anthem by members
of the Commonwealth.
It is one of two official national
anthems in New Zealand and is still used as the royal anthem in Australia,
Canada, Jamaica and Tuvalu - although it is rarely played.
God Save the Queen stopped being the
official national anthem of Australia in 1974 and was replaced by Advance
Australia Fair.
Did the Sex Pistols record their own version
of God Save The Queen?
In 1977, the year of Queen Elizabeth
II's Silver Jubilee punk band The Sex Pistols recorded and released a song
titled God Save the Queen which was seen as an insult to the monarchy.
Many venues banned the group from
performing and certain media outlets refused to play the song or report on the Sex
Pistols.
Despite the attempts to censor the
song, it reached number 2 on the UK singles chart.
